Researcher/Lead Researcher in enzyme technology, Product Development

Enginzyme is a Swedish venture-backed startup company building the most versatle and efficient enzyme technology platform for chemical manufacturing that the world has ever seen. Founded in 2014 in Stockholm, Sweden, we have been recognised as a Technology Pioneer by the World Economic Forum, and we are on a mission to transform the $5 trillion-worth chemical industry.
We are looking for a talented and dedicated Researcher/Lead Researcher who can join our R&D team and help support our continued progress. You’ll be a part of a tight-knit and quick-moving team, where collaboration and out-of-the-box thinking is central to our achievements. The ideal candidate has a strong background in enzyme biochemistry and enzyme technology, ideally applied in industrially-relevant contexts.
This is a full-time, lab-focused position based in Stockholm and may include some traveling for development and training purposes.

Who you are

We are looking for an innovation-driven and organised PhD graduate in biotechnology, chemistry or a related field with a deep understanding and hands-on experience in chemical and enzymatic catalysis as well as protein production and characterisation. Candidates that are truly outstanding with other backgrounds and/or equivalent experience may also be considered. Any practical experience with high-throughput screening and optimisation will be considered as an additional merit. Previous experience in industrial settings will be considered as a plus.

What you will do

Project execution

  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary R&D team of talented scientists and engineers to help solve important challenges;
  • Autonomously design and perform experiments involving biocatalysis, reaction engineering, enzyme production, purification, characterisation and immobilisation;
  • Analyse and report experimental results. Present relevant findings to the project team as well as to other internal and external stakeholders;
  • Contribute to the definition of the overall technical strategy of the projects.

Innovation

  • Actively contribute to the development of enginzyme’s own technology platform;
  • Collaborate with our business development team to identify novel market opportunities and support their activities as a technical expert.

Mentoring and supervision

  • Informal supervision of lab technician and research assistants.
